Fruitport boys bowling team advances to playoffs at weekend Mona Shores tournament

The Fruitport boys bowling team had a good outing against a lot of tough competition at Saturday’s Mona Shores Sailor Cup Invitational at Sherman Bowling Center.

The Trojans finished in fifth place out of 22 teams in the preliminary rounds, which put them in the six-team playoffs. They lost to Reeths-Puffer in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs, 2-1.

Peyton Wirt was the top Trojan of the day, finishing in third place in the individual tournament standings with a 629 series. Keenan Camp took fifth place with a 605 series. They both won medals for their efforts.

Bradley Dekker, the other Trojan who bowled all three games in the preliminary rounds, had a 473 series.

Three Trojans bowled two of the three games, including Dylan Winskas (313 series), Remy Parker (267) and Corbin Judd (235).

The Fruitport girls team did not fare so well, finishing in 11th place and falling short of the playoffs.

Genevieve Franklin had the best day with a 380 series, including a high game of 166. Harper Simila had a 354 series, Kyleigh O’Connell scored a 344 and Mya Herrygers came in at 291.
