The Fruitport boys basketball team shook off a two-game losing streak by pulling ahead in the second half and beating Kelloggsville 50-41 on Tuesday in the first O-K Silver conference game of the season.
The game was close throughout the first half, with the Trojans clinging to a 20-16 lead after one quarter and a 27-26 edge at halftime.
The big difference came in the third quarter, when Fruitport outscored the Rockets 10-2 to take a 37-26 lead into the fourth.

Dexter Lillmars and DayDay Williams each had four points in the third for the Trojans.
The teams were even at 13-13 in the final quarter, allowing the Trojans to grab the victory and improve to 3-2 overall on the season and 1-0 in the conference.
Lillmars had seven points in the fourth. He finished with a team-high 17 points and 12 rebounds while DayDay Williams totaled 15 points and eight rebounds. Hudson Hazekamp chipped in 14 points for the Trojans.
“We defended much better in the second half, and I was happy with our rebounding effort,” said Fruitport head coach Steve Erny. “To win the turnover battle and the offensive rebound battle against a team like Kelloggsville says we were playing smart and also playing hard.
“We need to clean up some things, especially at the end of the game, but it’s a good start for our conference season.”
The Trojans will return to action on Saturday against Tri-Unity Christian at Cornerstone University at 5 p.m.
