The Fruitport soccer team has been mercy-ruling a lot of O-K Silver conference opponents this season.
The latest occurred on Tuesday night, when the Trojans beat Belding by the mercy rule score of 8-0 in the first round of the conference tournament.
[1]It was the fourth time this season that Fruitport has ended a game early due to an eight-goal lead against conference opponents.
Jorge Burgos-Yack and Caleb Chandler each scored two goals for the Trojans. Ryder Merkins, Carter Latsch, Adriano Pineda Saadi and Tate Marshall each scored once.
Burgos-Yack and Jyles Smith each had two assists while Quincy McDaniels and Davis Johnson each had one.
[3]Fruitport goalkeepers Mason Kettel and Sebastion Sweet combined to post the shutout.
Fruitport, now 13-3-3 overall and 8-0 in conference play, will host Godwin Heights on Thursday in the tournament semifinal round.
