Fruitport cross country standout Peyhton Beardsley just keeps getting better, race after race.
She finished third at the season-opening Muskegon Catholic Central Invitational, then took second at the Eagle Invitational at Fruitport Calvary Christian.
Beardsley completed her early season climb on Wednesday, taking first place out of 55 runners at the first O-K Silver conference meet of the season.

Beardsley, only a sophomore, finished with a time of 20:54.
“Peyhton controlled the race from start to finish,” said Fruitport Coach Randy Johnson. “She made her move 800 meters into the race and ran by herself the rest of the way.”
Fruitport also got a great individual performance from junior Zoe German, who took third place with a time of 21:26.

“Zoe took a conservative approach and started behind the lead group, then after the halfway point she picked them off one by one to place third,” Johnson said.
Overall the Fruitport girls finished in the middle of the pack, taking third place out of five teams with 68 points. Calvin Christian took first place with 37 while NorthPointe Christian was second with 43.
Fruitport’s Aynsley Merkins was 18th overall with a time of 23:30, Brynley Merkins was 19th with a time of 23:31, and Claire Kohley was 27th with a mark of 24:31. [5]
