The Fruitport volleyball team just kept getting stronger as the match went along.
The Trojans had to battle a bit to beat Godwin Heights in the first set on Thursday, winning 25-18. Then they really got going, taking the second set 25-12 and the third 25-10 to sweep the Wolverines in an O-K Silver conference match.
Fruitport has also gotten stronger as the season has progressed. Since the season-opening Coopersville Invitational, when they went 3-2-1, the Trojans have posted an impressive 8-2 record.
[1]They are 11-4-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Emma Danicek led the team’s balanced attack with eight kills, Rowyn Miller added seven and Ellie Stroup had six.
[3]The assist duo of Alexa Sweet and Emma Fecher had 16 and 13, respectively.
Defensively, Izzy Hansen-Wilbur recorded 11 digs.
The Trojans will play several non-conference matches on Tuesday at Spring Lake.
