The Fruitport boys cross country team is now a full team, and apparently not a bad one, at that.

At the start of the season, the Trojans had several quality runners in the lineup, but they couldn’t qualify to compete as a team because they only had four guys on the roster.

They recently added a few runners, however, meaning they can place in the team standings at their events, and so far the results are promising.

Fruitport’s Christian Pavlige

Fruitport finished second out of five teams on Wednesday at the first O-K Silver conference meet of the season with 73 points. NorthPointe Christian and Hopkins tied for first with 47 points apiece.

Fruitport sophomore Christian Pavilige, a first-year cross country runner, continued his early success by finishing in third place out of 52 runners with a time of 17:37.

“Christian started off with the lead pack, fell off a bit, then regrouped and finished in third,” said Fruitport Coach Randy Johnson.

Fruitport’s Landon Johnson, center.

Senior Landon Johnson finished 10th overall with a time of 18:06.

The rest of the top five for the Trojans were Dylan Winskas (21st, 20:16), Josh VanStelle (27th, 21:15) and Eddie Bouchard (30th, 22:16).

The Trojans will compete in the Fremont Invitational on Saturday.storagemini
