The Fruitport volleyball team started the season with a few questions, after losing two top players from last year, one to graduation and one to injury.
So far, however, the Trojans have been quite good.
[1]Fruitport played very well again on Wednesday, rolling up a 3-0 record at a four-team event at Reeths-Puffer High School.
The Trojans beat Reeths-Puffer 27-25, 25-13; Ludington 25-18, 25-21 and Ravenna 25-14, 25-18.
They improved their record to 6-2-1 on the season.
[3]Izzy Hanson-Wilbur paced Fruitport with 21 kills while Ellie Stroup added 18.
Emma Danicek and Alexa Sweet each served five aces. Emma Fecher had 33 assists and Sweet added 21.
[5]Porter Johnson led the defense with 32 digs, Hanson-Wilbur had 30 and Stroup added 18.
“Tonight was another great showing for our team,” said Fruitport Coach Nicole Bayle. “Our serving was a huge weapon for us tonight. This group of ladies is doing a great job learning to work together and finding ways to win, and we are even having a little fun doing it.”
