The very young and inexperienced Fruitport boys tennis team continued to struggle a bit in its second outing of the season, falling 8-0 to NorthPointe Christian on Wednesday in an O-K Silver conference match.

The Trojans continued to show some progress in singles, but really struggled in doubles, losing every game in all four matches.

In singles, Fruitport won 14 total games, despite losing the sets and matches.

Fruitport’s Tucker Gholson

Tucker Gholson won six games in his match at No. 3 singles, while Dominik Kooy won five games.

Nathan Medema won two games at No. 2 singles while Remy Parker won one in the very tough No. 1 singles spot.

“Singles had some opportunities but could not fully capitalize and win a set,” said Fruitport Coach Brad Busscher. “More skill and experience are needed to compete at that level. We are working daily to get there.”

The Trojans will host North Muskegon on Friday in a non-conference match.storagemini
