Fruitport sophomore runner Christian Pavlige takes first place in his second career race

Fruitport sophomore Christian Pavlige, a first-year cross country runner, continued the great start to his career on Tuesday when he finished in first place in the boy’s race at the Eagle Invitational at Fruitport Calvary Christian.

Pavlige, who finished fifth at last weekend’s Muskegon Catholic Central Invitational, won the race with a time of 17:34. He beat Bryce Falbe of Oakridge, who took second with a time of 17:46.

Fruitport’s Landon Jonson finished 17th with a time of 19:41. Josh Vanstelle was 49th with a time of 23:15 and Dylan Winskas was 58th with a 25:07 mark.

The Fruitport boys did not place in the team standings because they lacked a fifth runner.

In the girls race, sophomore Peyhton Beardsley finished second overall with a time of 20:34. That followed her third-place finish at Saturday’s MCC Invitational. [3]

Fruitport’s Zoe German was fifth with a time of 23:26, Aynsley Merkins was ninth with a mark of 24:00, Brynley Merkins was 12th with a time of 24:31 and Claire Kohley was 16th at 25:16.
