After a slight detour on Saturday with a pair of losses in the GMAA tournament, the Fruitport softball team returned to its winning ways on Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep of Comstock Park.
The Trojans rolled in the opener, winning 16-1. The biggest offensive contribution came from Madyson Prout, who knocked in four runs on two hits, including a three-run homer in the fourth inning.
Fruitport totaled nine runs in the decisive fourth. Kendall Lee had an RBI double, Khloe Courtade drew an RBI walk, Brooklyn Russell had an RBI double, Prout homered to right field, Kya Tawney hit a solo home run to center field, Kalli Tawney hit a solo home run to center field and Courtade added an RBI double.
Russell pitched the win, allowing only two hits and one run over four innings while striking out five with no walks.
The Trojans totaled 11 hits and 10 walks. Lee had three of those hits while stealing two bases while Courtade had two hits.

Fruitport completed the sweep with a 16-0 win in Game 2.
Kalli Tawney drove in four runs on three hits. She had an two-run triple and two RBI singles.
The Trojans pulled ahead for good in the first inning when Kya Tawney hit a RBI sacrifice fly, Kalli Tawney had a two-run triple and Courtade blasted a two-run homer to center field.
Courtade’s homer was the first of her high school career.
The Trojans pulled away with 11 runs in the second inning. Kya Tawney singled and drove in two runs, Kalli Tawney singled and drove in one, Bri Chiaverini did the same, Tatum Anderson drew an RIB walk, Russell was hit by a pitch and drove in a run, Prout hit a two-run single, Brylee DeWitt drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Kya Tawney singled again, scoring two runs.
Courtade earned the win on the mound, allowing only one hit while striking out four and walking one in three innings.
Fruitport improved to 13-6 overall and 7-1 in O-K Silver conference play.
“I don’t ever recall seeing three home runs in one inning,” said Fruitport Coach Bob Dorman about the fourth inning in Game 1. “We had two veteran empires tonight, and they commented that they’ve never seen that, either. Very strong performance by Brooklyn pitching, literally shutting them down.
“We kept our focus for Game 2 and came right back to where we left off, like we never missed a beat. I complimented the girls on their focus, and their patience waiting for their pitch. When they got their pitch they didn’t miss it.”
