The Fruitport girls soccer team is hoping to start a brand new winning streak, and its off to a good start.
After having their eight-game streak snapped on Wednesday with a tough 1-0 loss to Fremont, the Trojans rebounded with a convincing 8-0 win over Kelloggsville on Thursday in O-K Silver conference action.
McKenna Joslyn led the offensive barrage with a pair of goals. Also scoring for Fruitport were Maycee Hall, Peyhton Beardsley, Violet Olinghouse, Myla Parker, Makayla Boelkins and Kenzie Pate.
Hall, a freshman, and Pate, a senior, both scored their first varsity goals.

Kendal Kolberg had two assists for the Trojans while Peyhton Beardsley, Hall, Ava Vanveelan, McKenzie Beardsley, Shea Harrison and Izabel Hanson-Wilbur each had one.
“Despite yesterday’s loss, we were able to bounce back and pick up right where we left off from the previous eight-game winning streak,” said Fruitport head coach Kyle Hall. “Credit to the whole team who battled until the last second in last night’s game, and then came out today and punched the time card back into work.”
Fruitport is now 10-4 overall and 7-0 in the O-K Silver standings. The Trojans finished the first part of the conference season in first place, one game ahead of second-place Hopkins.
The conference tournament will begin next week. Before that, the Trojans will visit Reeths-Puffer for a non-conference matchup on Saturday.
