The Fruitport girls soccer team has clinched at least a share of its first conference championship in a long time.
Now the Trojans will have a chance to clinch the outright title before moving on to postseason play.
Fruitport took the next step on its championship trail with a 4-1 victory over Calvin Christian on Thursday in the semifinal round of the O-K Silver conference tournament.
Fruitport, now 12-5 overall and 9-0 in conference play, will face either NorthPointe Christian or Hopkins on Monday or Tuesday in the tournament championship game.

The Trojans took control against Calvin Christian early.
Izzy Hanson-Wilbur scored six minutes into the game with an assist from Myla Parker. Porter Johnson added a goal about five minutes later, with an assist from Parker, making it 2-0.
Ava Vanveelen scored midway through the first half, and Fruitport led 3-0 at halftime.

Hanson-Wilbur scored again about seven minutes into the second half, with an assist from Peyhton Beardsley, making the score 4-0. Calvin got on the scoreboard midway through the half, but could get no closer.
Fruitport had a 24- advantage in shots on goal. Ava Powell got the win in goal.
“We have been working on putting together a full 80 minutes each game,” said Fruitport head coach Kyle Hall. “Start to finish. Tonight we were able to come out from the first whistle on all cylinders. Credit to the whole team, which o has been striving to become better each day. At times tonight our ball movement was the best it has been all season.
“It’s always an encouraging thing to be peaking as a team near mid-May and into June.”
