FRUITPORT – Fruitport’s Ryan Bosch is starting to attract autograph-seekers.
After Thursday’s game against Comstock Park, the 6-foot-8 senior pitcher was surrounding by several youngsters near the dugout, and he patiently signed the baseballs and other stuff they held out for him.
It was a fitting finish to a great day for Bosch, who recorded his 300th career strikeout in the top of the third inning.
Bosch ended up striking out seven in just three innings, helping the Trojans plow past the Panthers 15-0 in a three-inning mercy rule game.
The victory completed a three-game series sweep for Fruitport. The first win came on Tuesday, then the second win came earlier on Thursday when the Trojans won 8-7 in the completion of an extra-innings game that was suspended by darkness on Tuesday.

The surging Trojans are now 18-1 overall and 14-1 in O-K Silver conference play.
The victory also left Bosch with a 6-0 record this season and a miniscule 1.00 earned run average.
The 300 career strikeouts, accumulated over three-plus seasons of varsity baseball, is just the latest in a long line of accomplishments for the still-developing standout lefty who will pitch next year at Wake Forest University.
“We knew about it since the beginning of the year, we had a goal set, and it came very quickly,” Bosch said about the strikeout milestone. “I am very humbled to have it happen. You can’t have that happen without your teammates and your coaches behind you.”
Fruitport head coach Nick Reed said there are no records available, but he is pretty sure Bosch is the first Fruitport pitcher to reach 300 Ks.

And Reed is absolutely certain that the Trojans, who also have several other very good pitchers, are at their best when Bosch is on the mound.
“He’s been more efficient this year,” Reed said. “He’s throwing real well and working in the zone. Any time we can roll Ryan out, we have a chance to beat anybody.”
The sweep of Comstock Park put the Trojans one step closer to their goal of winning the O-K Silver conference championship.
Comstock Park came into the week with one conference loss, but the Trojans pretty much eliminated the Panthers from the trophy chase.

The remaining hurdle for the Trojans may be Hopkins, which currently has one conference loss, according to Coach Reed.
The Trojans will play Hopkins three times, twice on May 20 and once on May 22. That series could determine the championship.
But if the Trojans keeps hitting like they have lately, nobody in the O-K Silver may be able to stop them.
They certainly wasted no time taking control on Thursday.
Jax Flynn reached base in the first inning when he was hit by a pitch, Tommy Anderson drew a two-out walk, Dexter Lillmars reached base on an error, then Trevor Rusnak delivered a two-run single.

Fruitport tacked on eight runs in the second inning. The big blows came from Lillmars, who hit a two-run triple, and Hudson Hazekamp, who hit an RBI double. The Trojans also scored two runs on wild pitches and another on a bases-loaded walk. Satchel Norwood and Brady Meister added RBI groundouts.
Fruitport sealed things up in the third inning with five runs that triggered the mercy rule.
Anderson hit an RBI single, another run scored on a wild pitch, Rusnak hit a two-run double, then the game ended on a wild throw from the catcher to third base, which allowed the 15th run to score.
Fruitport will host Fremont in a non-conference game on Friday.
