The Fruitport softball team scored early and often in an impressive doubleheader sweep over Godwin Heights in O-K Silver action on Tuesday.
The Trojans scored 10 runs in the first inning in both games en route to a 19-0 win in Game 1 and a 15-0 win in Game 2. Both games lasted just three innings.
Brooklyn Russell pitched a perfect game in the opener, retiring all nine batters she faced. Seven of those were on strikeouts.
Fruitport scored 10 runs in the first inning, followed by nine more in the second. Fruitport scored its 19 runs with 12 total hits, thanks to a dozen walks and some defensive miscues by Godwin Heights.
Brylee Dewitt led the Trojans with three hits, all singles. Kendall Lee had a pair of hits and drove in three runs. Russell and Kendall Prout both had two hits for the Trojans, as well.

Fruitport swiped seven bases in the first game, including multiple steals for both Russell and Kalli Tawney.
In Game 2, Coach Bob Dorman went with a lineup of underclassmen, starting seven freshmen. Still, the Trojans got off to another quick start. Fruitport scored 10 runs in the first and five more in the second to earn the mercy rule win.
Marlee Veltman pitched the win for Fruitport, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out seven over three scoreless innings. Veltman earned her first pitching win of the season.
Bri Chiaverini had two hits and three RBI in the nightcap. Veltman, Dewitt, Aryssa St. Amour, Khloe Courtade each had one hit.
Fruitport also drew nine walks, stole five bases and were solid in the field for another all-around win.
Fruitport is now 8-2 overall this season and 4-0 in the O-K Silver.
