Fruitport baseball player Trevor Rusnak had a day on Thursday that he will tell his grandchildren about.

Rusnak, a junior, hit three home runs and knocked in nine runs in the Trojans’ doubleheader sweep of NorthPointe Christian.

The two victories left the Trojans with a perfect 6-0 overall and O-K Silver conference record.

“Trevor has always had the ability to hit the long ball,” said Fruitport Coach Nick Reed. “The difference now is his confidence and growth between the ears. His power has always been left-center to left, but his homers were center, right-center and right field line. That shows he’s adjusted and improved his field coverage and is becoming the hitter we knew was in him. It’s great to see the growth.”

Rusnak had a two-run homer and a grand slam in Game 1,  which Fruitport won 12-1. He was also the winning pitcher, striking out nine while scattering four hits.

Jax Flynn also had two hits in the victory.

Rusnak was at it again in Game 2, hitting a two-run homer to propel an eight-run first inning that propelled the Trojans to a 16-4 win.

Ryan Bosch had three hits and four RBIs in the game, Flynn also had three hits while Thomas Anderson, Hudson Hazekamp and Satchel Norwood each added two hits.

Hazekamp pitched the win, striking out six and walking four in four innings.

“Right now the boys are really locked in and playing together,” Coach Reed said. “They are picking each other up, and the closeness and connectivity has been great between the coaches and the players.”th brandseddiestoragemini
