The Fruitport boys golf team went up against some of the top competition in the state over the weekend and did pretty well.

The Trojans finished in the top half of the standings – 14th out of 32 teams – at the two-day Traverse City Central Tee-Off Tournament at Crystal Mountain.

Chase Sullivan was the top Trojan, shooting an 82 on the first day, an 80 on the second and finishing in 39th place individually in a field of 220 golfers.

The Trojans finished with a team score of 681. Traverse City West won the event with a 618.

“Overall I am proud of the effort our guys gave over the 36 holes,” said Fruitport Coach Aaron Gregory. “Our putting could have been much better, so that will be an emphasis this week. This is the best finish we have had in this event and it is filled with some of the top teams in the state.”

The Trojans will compete in the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association Tournament on Monday.ministorageeddieth brands
