Freshman pitcher Dexter Lillmars tossed a five-inning shutout on Friday, striking out 11 in the Fruitport baseball team’s impressive 10-0 victory on the road over Traverse City Central.
Fruitport is now 10-0 on the season.
The Trojans pulled ahead with two runs in the first inning, then took control with five more in the fourth, highlighted by a grand slam home run from Braxton Ward.
Fruitport scored three more runs in the fifth and the game ended early due to the mercy rule.

Ryan Bosch had three hits and two RBIs for the Trojans while Trevor Rusnak added two hits.
Fruitport head coach Nick Reed said he wasn’t expecting to win the first 10 games, but he’s impressed with the way his players have been performing.
“It’s baseball, so to be consistent and play hard is what we’ve been focusing on, and it’s resulted in some great results,” Reed said. “We have talent, and at times it’s easy to just rely on that. But this group hasn’t. They’ve come in and worked and keep working. They are so connected and have each other’s backs. It’s been a great start.”
The Trojans will host Calvin Christian on Tuesday. [3]
