The Fruitport girls basketball team celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday with a convincing 52-11 victory over Kelloggsville in an O-K Silver conference matchup.

The Trojans took control early, grabbing an 11-0 lead after one quarter and a 20-4 advantage at halftime.

Fruitport posted another shutout in the third quarter, outscoring Kelloggsville 17-0, and led 37-4 headed into the fourth.

The 41-point win was by far the Trojans’ biggest margin of victory of the season.

Fruitport is now 6-14 overall and 6-7 in conference play. Kelloggsville fell to 2-15 and 0-11.

Five Trojans – Kenzie Pate, Izzy Heckroth, Lainey Bol, McKenzie Beardsley, and Emma Woycehoski – played their final home game.

One special moment came when Beardsley got a chance to play with her sister, freshmen Peyhton Beardsley, and assisted on Peyhton’s first varsity basket.

“These seniors have poured in a ton of time and effort,” said Fruitport head coach Brian Packard. “I love those seniors. I want to say thank you to these young women that have let us coaches pour into them. It’s not always easy to be a player and we aren’t always easy on these girls.”

Izzy Hanson-Wilbur led Fruitport with 13 points while Pate, Heckroth and Lily Johnson all added six points.

The Trojans will visit Belding on Friday.
