The Fruitport boys bowling team performed well at Wednesday’s Greater Muskegon Athletic Association Tournament at Sherman Bowling Center, qualifying for the playoffs in the 10-team event and finishing in fourth place.
The Trojans finished fourth in the preliminary competition with a total score of 2,010. Reeths-Puffer was first, followed by Mona Shores and Montague.
All four teams made the head-to-head playoffs, and Fruitport lost to Reeths-Puffer in the semifinals.

Fruitport’s Michael Hanson had the best day among the Trojans, bowling games of 201 and 169 for a 370 series and finishing 10th in the individual standings. He earned All-Tournament honors and won a medal.
Bradley Dekker finished in 12th place with a 359 series, followed by Corbin Judd (339, 15th), Keenan Camp (307, 28th) and Dylan Winskas (295, 31st).
“We are excited to finish in the top four at a very competitive tournament,” said Fruitport Coach Tim McKeeby.
The Fruitport girls team had a more difficult outing, finishing in ninth place in the preliminary rounds with 1,249 points.

Mya Herrygers was the top Trojan, bowling a 240 series and finishing in 30th place. That was the best outing of her varsity career.
Fruitport’s other top bowlers were Kyleigh O’Connell, who rolled a 218 series and finished 37th, and Harper Simila, who had a 206 series and finished 38th.
“The improvement from last year’s GMAA to this year is tremendous,” McKeeby said. “Our girls team has a lot of potential.”
Both Fruitport teams will compete in Saturday’s O-K Silver conference postseason tournament, which will mark the end of the regular season.
