Fruitport boys basketball team beats Kelloggsville 54-43, extends its latest winning streak to four games

The Fruitport boys basketball team showed off its balanced scoring attack, and kept its latest winning streak alive, with a 54-43 conference victory over Kelloggsville on Monday night.

The Trojans won their fourth straight game and improved to 13-3 overall on the season and 7-1 in O-K Silver conference play.

They are in first place in the conference, a half game ahead of Calvin Christian, because they have played one more game.

Fruitport led 16-14 after one quarter, then outscored the Wolverines 13-7 in the second quarter to take a 29-21 halftime lead.

The Trojans led 38-26 after three quarters, then sealed down the win by scoring 16 points in the fourth.

Dexter Lillmars and DayDay Williams led the attack with 14 points apiece while Hudson Hazekamp tossed in 12 points.

Hazekamp snagged eight rebounds while Grade Anspach had seven. Lillmars and Grade Anspach dished out four and three assists, respectively.

“This was much closer to a complete game for us than recent contests,” said Fruitport Coach Steve Erny. “Kelloggsville can provide some problems with their pressure and how they attack the rim, and I thought we handled those things well. Our third quarter and the start of the fourth quarter was some of the better basketball we’ve played this season, with guys moving the ball and finding open teammates. Good win for our boys as we started a big three-game week tonight.”

The Trojans try hit the floor again on Tuesday night with a conference game in Hopkins. [3]storage [4] [5]eddie [6] [7]mini [8]th brands [9]
