The Fruitport girls basketball team apparently liked the way it felt to win, so the Trojans went out and did it again.
After breaking into the victory column for the first time this season on Friday, the Trojans overcame a first quarter deficit and beat Godwin Heights 40-26 on Tuesday in O-K Silver conference action at home.
Earlier this season, trailing after one quarter would have likely meant a loss for the Trojans, and they were down 13-7 at the first buzzer on Tuesday.

But they turned things around in the second quarter, particularly on the defensive end, outscoring the Wolverines 13-2 and taking a 20-15 halftime lead.
Fruitport kept up the tough defense in the third quarter and led 29-20 heading into the fourth, then sealed up the win with an 11-6 advantage down the stretch.
“Godwin Heights was a very fast team with a lot of pressure that we can not replicate in practice,” said Fruitport head coach Brian Packard. “They got us sped up a little at the beginning of the game, but once we settled in we were able to keep our composure a little bit and move the ball better.”

The Trojans benefited from something new – having two players post double-doubles in the stat book.
Sophomore Izzy Hanson Wilbur recorded 15 points and 14 rebounds, to go along with five steals, three assists and one block.
Kenzie Pate added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Lainey Bol almost made it to double figures in scoring, putting up nine points while grabbing three rebounds.

“We had five girls in the scoring column, but a better stat for our team was we had eight girls with rebounds,” Packard said. “That has been a focus of ours and we are starting to figure that out.
“It was a good win for us. I am happy for these girls.”
Fruitport, now 2-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play, will visit Calvin Christian on Friday.
