Most good teams hit a bump or two over the course of a season, and the Fruitport boys bowling squad is experiencing that right now.

After starting the season with five straight wins, the Trojans lost their second straight match on Wednesday, 16-14 to Comstock Park in O-K Silver conference action.

The Trojans won one of the two baker rounds and led 6-4 headed into the regular games.

They lost Game 1 812-781, but picked up two team points when Michael Hanson (high score of 177) and Bradley Dekker won their head-to-head matchups.

Corbin Judd

Fruitport won Game 2 811-804, picking up four team points. Hanson and Corbin Judd (high score of 189) each added another team point by winning their matchups.

The outcome came down to the two-point bonus for winning the combined pin total in both regular games. Comstock Park had the edge, 1,616-1,592, and got the victory.

“Our boys team is a tough team,” said Fruitport Coach Tim McKeeby. “We fought until the very end and the match was decided by a handful of pins. We will continue to grow and improve. We have a great team and I am proud of our boys for listening to their coaches, supporting each other, and giving their best effort.“Special shoutout to Corbin Judd for bowling his season high of 189! Another shoutout to Michael Hanson for bowling two great games!”

Gen Franklin

The Trojans are now 5-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

The Fruitport girls lost to Comstock Park 28-2. Genevieve Franklin earned both of the Trojans’ points by winning both of her games. Franklin bowled a team-high score of 133 in the second game.

“Our girls team has limited experience and that will show in match play,” McKeeby said. “However, we keep improving and have great attitudes. We believe that we are a few more practices away from being consistent. We cannot wait to prove ourselves and win a few more matches. Congrats to Genevieve Franklin for having her best day and winning both of her matches! Kadie Juska also bowled two great matches!”eddieminith brandsstorage
