The Fruitport girl basketball team is really close to getting that first win.
That was evident on Thursday when the Trojans led Western Michigan Christian for much of the game, and were tied with the Warriors as the clock ran down.
But as luck would have it, WMC hit a three-pointer with about 30 seconds remaining to take a one-point lead, then added two free throws and handed the Trojans a 38-35 loss in non-conference action.
Fruitport fell to 0-5 on the season.

The Trojans led 9-8 after one quarter, 19-17 at halftime and 30-29 after three.
Fruitport extended its lead to about eight in the fourth quarter, but WMC battled back and hit the triple that made the difference in the final minute.
Izzy Hanson-Wilbur led Fruitport with 11 points, six rebounds and four steals. Lainey Bol added eight points and five rebounds.
The Trojans will be back in action for another non-conference game at North Muskegon on Dec. 28. [3]
