Fruitport boys bowling squad keeps its record perfect at 5-0 with a clean sweep of Godwin Heights

It’s starting to look like the Fruitport boys bowling team is back in full force, and ready to compete for some trophies again.

The Trojans were an established power in the O-K Blue conference, winning three straight championships between 2021 and 2023, before taking a step back last season.

But that lull appears to be over. A lot of the players from last year’s squad returned this season and improved their games, and suddenly the wins are piling up again.

It continued on Wednesday, when the Trojans improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the O-K Silver conference standings with a dominant 30-0 win over Godwin Heights.

The Trojans swept everything against the Wolverines, including both baker rounds and both regular games.

Fruitport won the first regular game 847-661. Shane Brosnan, Zach Durakovic, Keenan Camp, Michael Hanson and Bradley Dekker all won their individual games, with Camp turning in a high score of 208.

The Trojans won the second game 813-636. Brosnan, Camp, Hanson, Dekker and Corbin Judd won individual games, with Dekker posting a high score of 212.

“Our hard work and determination is paying off,” said bowling coach Tim McKeeby. “We are thrilled to start the season 5-0 and 3-0 in our conference. We know that our toughest competition is yet to come, however, we are focused to continue this success.

“I cannot thank the boys and the coaching staff enough for how well put together our team is this season. We are winning and having a lot of fun bowling our best.”

The Fruitport girls didn’t fare as well, falling to Godwin Heights 21-9.

Kadie Juska and Kyleigh O’Connell each earned two points for the Trojans by winning in both of the regular games. Juska has the high score in both games, rolling a 129 and a 147, respectively.

Genevieve Franklin won one game for Fruitport.

The Trojans also scored points by winning one of the two baker rounds.

“We were in the match the whole time,” McKeeby said. ”We lost the baker total by a pin and two regular matches by a single pin each. Our girls had a lot of fun and improved on each roll.

“Shout out to Kadie Juska and Kyleigh O’Connell for staying consistent tonight and leading our team in scoring.”storage [4] [5]eddie [6] [7]mini [8]th brands [9]
