You can’t win every time out, but the Fruitport volleyball team has been coming pretty close to it lately.

The Trojans went into the week with five straight wins and an 11-2 record in their last 13 matches.

They ran into a bit of turbulence at Cadillac on Monday, posting a 2-1 record against some quality opponents, but still turned in a very strong performance.

Fruitport opened the multi-team event by rallying to beat Midland 19-25, 25-13, 25-7.

The Trojans’ winning streak was then snapped at six matches with a three-set loss to Cadillac. Fruitport won the first set 25-17, then lost the next two, 19-25 and 24-26.

They ended the day with an easy 25-15, 26-5 victory over Clare.

Gracelynn Olson orchestrated the offense with an impressive 63 assists. Sadie Haase led the attack with 30 kills, supported by Gracelynn Olson with 12 and Ellie Stroup with 11.

The Trojans were also dominant from the service line, with Haase recording 7 aces and Emma Fecher and Izzy Hanson-Wilbur each adding 6.Defensively, Hanson-Wilbur tallied 25 digs with Fecher close behind at 24.

Fruitport improved to 22-9 and will host Kelloggsville on Thursday in O-K Sliver conference action.minieddiestorageth brands
