The season is starting to wind down for the largely inexperienced but determined Fruitport girls golf team, and the Trojans just keep improving.
They had strong outings on Monday and Tuesday, with senior standout Mylee Mineni nailing two top four finishes and all of the other girls shooting personal best rounds.
On Monday the Trojans finished fourth in the team standings at the Comstock Park Classic, and every player shot their best round of the season.
Mineni had a really great round, finishing in fourth place in the individual standings, shooting her first career eagle, setting a new team record with an 18-hole score of 80 and a new team record with a nine-hole score of 34.
The rest of the players also ended up with their top personal scores, with Maddie Anderson shooting a 99, followed by Kenzie Pate (115), Lainey Bol (116), Kendall Lee (119) and Tatum Anderson (136).
On Tuesday the Trojans finished third in the O-K Silver Championship Tournament.
They had 423 points, behind NorthPointe Christian (340) and Hopkins (390). The Trojans finished ahead of Calvin Christian (424) and Belding (447).
Mineni shot an 84 and finished third individually, Maddie Anderson came in at 106 and finished 15th, and McKenzie Beardsley shot a 111 (her personal best score) and took 20th place.
Lee shot a 113 (another new personal best), Bol shot a 117 and Ava Powell shot a 120, which was her personal best score.
Fruitport finished fourth in the final overall conference standings, just three points behind Calvin Christian. NorthPointe Christian won the O-K Silver championship.
Mineni finished in fourth place in the final conference individual standings.
“The girls had a great day on the course,” said Fruitport Coach Brenda Hansen after the conference tournament. “They made adjustments when they needed to. It has been really exciting to see the girls learn the game of golf and improve as the season progressed.”
The Trojans will compete in the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association City Tournament on Oct. 14, which is a rainout makeup date for the event.
