Fruitport volleyball coach Nicole Bayle went on the record saying she expected to have a strong team this season.

After 10 matches the Trojans were 5-5 and it was difficult to see where she was coming from.

But now it’s becoming a lot clearer.

The Trojans romped past O-K Silver conference opponent Belding on Thursday in straight sets, by scores of 25-15, 25-6, 25-16.

They have now won seven of their last eight matches to improve their overall record to 12-6, including 2-0 in conference play.

Bayle said the Trojans were strong from the beginning against Belding.

“Our challenge tonight was to come out and put a full match together,” she said. “Game 2 was some of the best volleyball we have played this season. Our serving was strong and the offense took control again. In Game 3 Belding pushed us a little, and had a big surge of momentum, but our team showed great maturity and kept control.

“It feels great to come out with strong conference play. We are looking forward to keeping in rolling!”
