Parker and Puls win again, and other Fruitport tennis players are starting to show signs of breaking through

Fruitport’s Remy Parker and Eli Puls have been emerging as competitive varsity tennis players, and that trend continued this week.

Both collected victories on Wednesday in Fruitport’s O-K Silver conference match against Comstock Park.

Parker (No. 2 singles) fought hard to beat Comstock Park’s Dylan Vandermeer 7-6, 6-4. Puls (No. 3 singles) downed Ewan Robinson 6-1, 7-5.

Fruitport lost the team match 6-2, but there were signs of general improvement.

Sebastion Sweet lost both sets, but won five games, at No. 1 singles. Shane Brosnan met the same fate, but won three games, at No. 4 singles.

Jackson Yandell and Dominik Kooy ost their match at No. 1 doubles but won six games.

“We had a long, competitive match with Comstock Park,” said Fruitport Coach Brad Busscher. “All flights had extended games and sets. Remy and Eli won again and hopefully are finding their traction and most importantly their tennis games for further success. Our other flights are close behind and improving incrementally.”

The Trojans had a little less good fortune on Thursday when they met up with longtime area power Mona Shores in a non-conference match.

Fruitport was swept 8-0 but still showed signs of progress.

Parker battled to a tiebreaker before falling the Mona Shores’ Jackson Hurley 2-6, 6-2 ,10-7. Puls won five games in his match, and Fruitport’s No. 2 doubles team of Kaleb Krege and Bryce Baugh won three games. [5] [6]eddie [7]storage [8] [9]th brands [10]
