The Fruitport volleyball team is having a great time playing in its new conference.
The Trojans, a traditionally strong team that struggled over the past few years in the O-K Blue conference, is now 4-0 in the O-K Silver standings following a straight-set victory over Hopkins on Thursday night.
The set scores were 25-10, 25-16, 25-15.
“It was a total team effort, with (setter) Gracelynn Olson spreading out the offense with precision and creativity, keeping the Hopkins defense on its toes,” said Fruitport Coach Nicole Bayle, whose team is now 16-8 overall. “Our defense and serve-receive, areas we focused on heavily in practice this week, were outstanding.”
Sadie Haase had 14 kills for Fruitport. Olson had 27 assists. Haase and Olson each served five aces.
Defensively, Emma Fecher led the way with 12 digs.
