The Fruitport soccer team had to leave it all on the field on Thursday to prevail in a super intense comeback victory over Godwin Heights.
But the Trojans showed no ill effects just two days later, plowing past Belding 8-0 on Saturday in an O-K Silver conference matchup.
Fruitport is now 6-0 overall on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
Isaac VanderMolen led the Fruitport attack with three goals while Jorge Burgos-Yack added two.
Jayden Booker, Ryder Merkins and Carter Chander also scored for the Trojans. Assists came from Booker, VanderMolen, Nathaniel Cribley Cotto and Davis Johnson.
Logan Werschem and Mason Kettel shared the goaltending duties and the shutout.
“Saturday morning games can sometimes be tough, but I was proud of our guys and their focus from beginning to end,” said Fruitport Coach
Dan Hazekamp. “Our depth continues to be a huge factor as we begin to work through the grind of the high school schedule.”
Fruitport will visit Hopkins for another conference game on Tuesday.
