Jorge Burgos-Yack found the goal three times on Tuesday, helping the Fruitport soccer team beat Kelloggsville 5-0 in an O-K Silver conference road game.
The victory keeps Fruitport’s record perfect at 10-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
The Trojans have now gone five straight games without giving up a goal. The last opponent to score on Fruitport was Godwin Heights, which tallied one goal back on Sept. 5.
Fruitport has outscored opponents by a combined score of 24-0 in the last five games.
“Great all-around effort from the boys tonight,” said Fruitport Coach Dan Hazekamp. “We were able to find the net in a few different ways and I thought our defense did a great job of staying connected throughout the game.”
Burgos-Yack opened the scoring with a goal in the first half, then Ryder Merkins tacked on a goal to give Fruitport a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Grade Anspach had assists on both first-half goals.
Burgos-Yack scored two more goals in the second half and Jyles Smith scored once for Fruitport.
Merkins and Owen Tromp both had assists in the second half.
Logan Werschem and Mason Kettel combined to post the shutout in goal for the Trojans.
Fruitport will host Calvin Christian in a key conference matchup on Thursday. The Trojans will be honoring the late Coach Ken Erny and will be raising money for the Ken Erny Scholarship Fund.
