The Fruitport volleyball team is expecting to have a good season, but got off to a bit of a slow start on Saturday at the Traverse City West Invitational.
The Trojans were 1-3 on the day. They lost to Traverse City St. Francis 13-25, 25-16, 9-15, Rockford 10-25, 13-25 and Byron Center 22-25, 18-25.
Fruitport beat the Traverse City West JV squad 25-18, 25-12.
Sadie Haase led the Trojans with 32 kills while Illy-Hanson-Wilber and Ellie Stoup each had 14.
Gracelynn Olson had 58 assists. Hanson-Wilbur served up six aces.
Defensively, Hanson-Wilbur had 28 digs while Olson added 15. Haase and Amy Danick each had 14 blocks.
The Trojans will compete in a multi-team event at Reeths-Puffer on Wednesday.
