The Fruitport soccer team improved to 3-0 on the season on Monday by traveling to Ludington and beating the always-tough Orioles 2-0 in non-conference action.
The Trojans scored the only goal of the first half when Isaac Vandermolen scored on a header from teammate Braxton Ward.
Fruitport capped that off with a goal by Davis Johnson, with an assist from Jorge Burgos Yack, early in the second half.

The Trojans’ defense was stifling, holding Ludington to only one shot on goal. Ward, Isaiah Parckard, Nathaniel Cribley Cotto and Sam Krueger were credited for strong play on the back line.
Senior goalkeeper Logan Werschem stopped that single shot and collected the shutout.
“I really liked our intensity and ball pressure from start to finish,” said Fruitport Coach Dan Hazekamp. “Winning in Ludington is not a small feat, and to be able to go in and control play was a good sign for us. We really like our depth and are excited to continue to build early in the season.”
The Trojans will host Whitehall on Wednesday in their first home game of the season.
