Improvement is coming incrementally for the Fruitport boys tennis team in the opening days of the season.
The Trojans, who struggled with a very young team last year, has had a victory in each of their first three outings this season.
On Thursday it came from Eli Puls, who dominated Sparta’s Evan Wood 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 3 doubles match.
Puls now has three victories on the season.
Sparta won the team competition by a 7-1 score.
Several Fruitport players had respectable performances, despite falling short of victory.
Shane Brosnan won six games at No. 4 singles, Remy Parker won three games at No. 2 singles and Sebastian Sweet won two at No. 1 singles.
“It was another nice outing for Eli, where he commanded the match,” said Fruitport Coach Brad Busscher. “All of the singles matches were very competitive.”
The Trojans will visit Kelloggsville on Tuesday in their first dual match in their new conference, the O-K Silver.
