The Fruitport girls track team had a lot of success at Friday’s Greater Muskegon Athletic Association City Track Meet.

The Trojans finished in second place out of 12 schools in the team standings with 67 points. Mona Shores took first with 109 points.

Fruitport had champions in three events, plus several other athletes finishing in the top three and winning All-City honors or the top six and earning team points.

Tatum Dykstra was the biggest winner for the girls, taking the city title in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.90 and the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:25.92.

Dykstra also finished second in the 1,600-meter run.

Julia Smith was the other individual champion for Fruitport, winning the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.62.

The Trojans’ 4 x 800-meter relay team of Tatum Dykstra, Tresa Dykstra, Valeria Pollock and Lauren Lee took second place.

Pollock took third place in the 3,200-meter run.

Fruitport’s 4 x 100 relay team of Sophie Christopher, Smith, Jada Wright and Chloe Anderson finished in fourth place.

Taking fifth for the Trojans were Anderson in the 100- and 200-meter dash, Smith in the long jump, and the 4 x 200 relay team of Christopher, Wright, Emma Fox and Smith.

Finishing in sixth place were Pollock in the 1,600-meter run, Wright on the long jump, and the 4 x 400 relay team of Tresa Dykstra, Lee, Anderson and Treasure Fleese.

Boys

The Fruitport boys’ 4 x 800-meter relay team – Levi Glynn, Levi Bol, Vincent Pollock and Ryder Merkins – was the only event winner for the Fruitport boys, who finished in eighth place out of 13 teams with 25 points. Whitehall won the team title with 142 points.

The champion relay team recorded a winning time of 8:23.43.

The city champion relay team of Vincent Pollock, Levi Glynn, Levi Bol and Ryder Merkins. 

Several other Trojans did well in their events.

Glynn and Merkins finished in third place in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run, respectively.

Taking sixth place for the Trojans were Vincent Pollock in the 1,600-meter run, Landon Johnson in the 3,200-meter run and the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Shondaris McCain, SeanPaul O’Brien, Bradon Dornbos and Kayden Beardsley.eddie
