Fruitport’s Levi Glynn qualified for the Division 2 state track and field finals with a strong finish in regionals on Thursday.
Glynn finished in second place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.59 seconds at the regional meet at Fremont High School.
Whitehall’s Trannon Aylor took first place in the event with a time of 48.49.
“We are so proud of Levi!” said Fruitport boys coach Tim McKeeby. “He was determined to qualify for state and ran a beautiful race! Levi is a great person with a hard work ethic, he deserved this opportunity and we are going to make the most out of it.”
The Division 2 state finals are scheduled for June 1 at Hamilton High School.
Two Fruitport boys relay teams also did well at regionals, but did not qualify for state.
The 4 x 800 team of Levi Bol, Vincent Pollock, Ryder Merkins and Glynn took sixth place while the 4 x 200 team of SeanPaul OBrien, Zachary Durakovic, Nathaniel Cribley-Cotto and Kayden Beardsley finished in eighth place.
