The Fruitport softball team opened the season with a pair of conference losses to Hamilton on Tuesday.
The Trojans lost the first game 16-5. Maddy Kohnke, Madyson Prout, Marlee Veltman, Kalli Tawney and Brylee Dewitt each collected one hit for the Trojans while pitcher Brooklynn Russell struck out 10.
Fruitport dropped the second game 17-6 despite scoring six runs and taking a 6-2 lead in the fourth inning.
Russell had three hits in the loss while Marlee Veltman had a two-run double.
The Trojans are scheduled to play a non-conference doubleheader on Friday.
