Fruitport girls soccer team hunting for some offense after scoring only once in three close losses

The Fruitport girls soccer team will be looking for more offense on Friday when it hosts Lowell in a non-conference matchup.

The Trojans have had a goal-scoring shortage over the past week, resulting in three close losses.

Fruitport fell to Reeths-Puffer 2-0 on Saturday. While the Trojans failed to score, Coach Kyle Hall credited Izzy Hanson-Wilbur, Lauren Reidel and McKenzie Pate for solid defensive play.

The scoring drought continued on Monday with a 2-0 loss to Holland Christian in O-K Blue conference action.

Coach Hall gave a nod to goalkeeper Riley Kettle, as well as Morgan Wescott, Mallory Smith, Izzy Hanson-Wilbur, and Jorja Blackmer for strong performances.

The Trojans broke the scoring slump on Wednesday in a 3-1 conference loss to Allendale.

Violet Olinghouse found the net for Fruitport.

The Trojans are now 1-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
