The Fruitport girls basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a 44-29 loss to Fremont on Thursday in non-conference action.
The Trojans only trailed by three points, 8-5, after the first quarter, but fell behind 24-11 by halftime.
Fruitport had a 14-9 advantage in the third quarter to pull within eight points, 33-25, but could not complete the rally.
The Trojans fell to 5-17 on the season while Fremont improved to 18-4.
Izzy Hanson-Wilbur had 19 points and six rebounds for Fruitport while Ashton Olson added six points and seven rebounds.
“We played another tough team and we played pretty well,” said Fruitport coach Brian Packard. “We didn’t shoot the ball well as a team but had some bright spots. We outrebounded them but they came out on top. We are ready to start districts.”
The Trojans will compete in next week’s Division 2 district tournament on their home court.
They will host Orchard View on Monday in a first-round game, trying to keep their season alive.
