The Fruitport competitive cheer team just keeps rolling along!
The Trojans have competed in four meets so far this season and have taken first place in every one, including Wednesday night.
Fruitport won the first O-K Blue conference meet of the season, squeaking past second-place Grand Rapids West Catholic 673.34-671.78.
The Trojans scored well in Round 1 (execution), taking the top spot with a score of 223.10. They slipped a bit in Round 2 (overall skills), finishing second with a 165.34 score, but rallied with a great 284.90 score to win Round 3 (stunts) and clinch first place.

“The team has so much heart on the mat when they compete, and they executed exactly how they needed to so they could come out on top,” said Fruitport Coach Saqora Conklin.”Their hard work never stops showing when they step on the mat! This team knows how to fight for it.”
Conklin credited junior Jada Wright for coming back from an injury, learning a new role in Round 1 and performing well.
“She pushed to do what was needed for her and the team,” the coach said.
Conklin also credited sophomore Callie O’Neal for learning a new position in Round 1 and filling in for a teammate in Round 2.
“She’s a very dependable asset for this team!” she said.
