The Fruitport boys bowling team rebounded from a tough Saturday with a resounding 21.5-2.5 victory over Wyoming on Monday.
The Trojans got off to a slow start, losing the baker game portion of the match 6-4, but then rebounded by dominating the singles games.
Shane Brosnan, Bradley Dekker, Michael Hanson and Braden Krohn won games for Fruitport in the first round, then Brosnan, Corbin Judd, Hanson and Krohn won games in the second round.
Krohn had the top scores of the night for the Trojans with a 150 and a 146.
[1]The performance was a nice rebound from Saturday, when Fruitport finished 12th out of 16 teams at its own invitational tournament.
Michael Hanson had the best day for Fruitport posting a 495 series and finishing 28th in the individual standings.
Krohn(441) and Corbin Judd (366), finished 43rd and 54th, respectively.
Oakridge won the boys title, defeating East Kentwood in the semifinals and Zeeland West in the finals.
“We are glad that we got the win and are looking forward to getting back into our normal routine,” said Fruitport Coach Tim McKeeby. “Breaks from school are never easy for athletes, however, our team is tough and will work hard to pick our scores back up.”
[2]The Fruitport girls team fell to Wyoming 27-3 on Monday.
Kadie Juska had a good match for the Trojans, winning two games with scores of 148 and 185, Joe Pider also won a game for Fruitport.
“Congratulations to Kadie Juska for bowling a career high of 185 and finishing with a 327 series!” Coach McKeeby said. “I am proud of the whole girls team for always striving to get better and trying their best.
On Saturday the girls finished 13th out of 16 teams at the Fruitport Invitational.
Juska was the top Trojans bowler, rolling a 376 series and placing 36th in the individual standings.
Grand Haven won the girls title, beating Reeths-Puffer in the semifinals and Rockford in the finals.
