The Fruitport girls basketball team did not win a lot last season, but the Trojans sure are off to a nice start in 2023-24.
They improved to 2-0 with a convincing 51-32 victory over Orchard View on Tuesday in a non-conference clash.
Fruitport got off to a great start, building a 17-2 lead after one quarter and a 28-8 advantage at halftime.
[1]The Trojans led 42-12 after the third quarter. The Cardinals put up 20 points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t nearly enough the close the gap.
Grace Sweet had a big game for Fruitport, totaling 16 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Ashton Olson chipped in with 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one steal. Jorja Blackmer also had a nice night with four points, three rebounds, three steals and three assists.
Fruitport will visit Holland in another non-conference game on Friday.
