The Fruitport competitive cheer team had one of the strongest days in the history of the program on Saturday.

The Trojans cruised to a first-place finish in Division 2 at the Mona Shores Invitational, winning their second title in one week.

Fruitport finished with 721.44 points, comfortably ahead of second-place Reeths-Puffer (679.32) and third-place Muskegon (665.58).

The title followed Wednesday’s first-place finish at a meet at Wyoming Lee High School on Wednesday.

The Trojans broke three existing school records in their outstanding performance.

They set a new record in Round 2 (overall skills) with a score of 202.74. The previous record was 200.

Fruitport also set a new record in combined Round 1 and Round 2 scores (execution and overall skills) with a 424.74. The previous school high mark was 419.16.

In the end it all added up to a new overall school record for points in a meet. The Trojans’ 721.44 topped the old mark of 717.
