Fruitport’s boys and girls bowling teams had a great night on Wednesday, both downing Grand Rapids West Catholic in O-K Blue conference action.
The Trojan boys squad won its match 25-5. The Fruitport girls won 21-9, capturing their first victory of the season.
The boys earned six points in baker games, then pulled away in the two individual rounds.
Zach Durakovic, Corbin Judd, Michael Hanson and Bradon Krohn won first-round games for the Trojans, earning the team four points. Duravokic, Hanson, Krohn, Bradley Dekker and Shane Brosnan all won games in the second round, giving the Trojans a five-point sweep.

Krohn had the team’s high score with a 217 in the first round.
Fruitport gained eight points for winning the two individual rounds, and another two points for having the highest pin total in those rounds.
“The experience of our boys team was on full display,” said Fruitport bowling coach Tim McKeeby. “We have very talented bowlers. Bradley Dekker, Michael Hanson, and Bradon Krohn led the solid core of our team. Shane Brosnan, Zach Durakovic and Corbin Judd add sound depth to the group.”
In the girls match, the Trojans got a big cushion from having a 10-0 advantage in baker games.

They also piled up 11 points in the two individual rounds. Joe Pider, Harper Simia and Kadie Juska won games in the first round while Pider and Juska won games in the second.
West Catholic came into the match with two open spots in the lineup, and the Trojans took full advantage.
“Our team hung on for its first victory!” McKeeby said. “It’s been a lot of fun coaching this girls team.They are great kids and great athletes. Our five current starters are all new to bowling and working hard to achieve success.”
