The Fruitport volleyball team battled to a pair of close losses before ending the day with a win in a quad with Western Michigan Christian, Cadillac and Whitehall on Thursday. Fruitport lost to WMC and Cadillac before taking down Whitehall in two sets.

Both sets against WMC were nail-biters, with the Crusaders winning 25-22 and 25-23. Cadillac beat the Trojans 25-23 and 25-15. Fruitport finished strong by winning 25-21 and 25-16 over Whitehall.

Sadie Haase led the Trojans with 32 kills, 21 digs, three aces and three blocks. Emma Danicek added 10 kills while Ellie Stroup had nine to go with three aces.

Gracelynn Olson had 61 assists and two blocks for Fruitport. Lauren Riedel had 28 digs and Emma Fecher had 21 digs and a team-high four aces. 

Fruitport is now 11-14 on the season.
