The Fruitport girls golf team is continuing to compete and improve, even while dealing with an incomplete lineup and a number of other challenges.
On Wednesday the Trojans played in an O-K Blue conference tournament hosted by Grand Rapids West Catholic at The Mines Golf Course.
Mylee Mineni, the Trojans’ top golfer, continued her consistent performance by shooting a 48 while Tatum Anderson came in at 73 and Lily Borntreger shot an 82.
Colby Thurston only managed to shoot two holes before withdrawing due to injury. The Trojans hope to have her back in the lineup soon.
Last week the Trojans hosted an O-K Blue tournament at Oak Ridge Golf Course. Mineni shot a round of 48, which left her just one shot short of tying for tenth place individually, which has been a pattern lately.
“She has been playing very consistently this season with her score ranging from 46 to 49,” Fruitport coach Brenda Hansen said about Mineni. “Mylee continues to work on eliminating the one or two bad shots to improve her scores.”
Anderson shot a 70, which was her best score to date on the Oak Ridge course, while Borntreger shot an 83.
Coach Hansen noted Anderson and Borntreger’s improvement.
“The girls are continuing to lower their scores by improving their short game,” Hansen said.
