The young and developing Fruitport tennis team is starting to make some progress.
The Trojans fell to a very good North Muskegon squad 6-2 on Tuesday, but won a pair of matches, which was a step in the right direction.
Levi Whitlow, Fruitport’s No. 3 singles player, battled hard to beat North Muskegon’s Logan Stack 7-6, 6-4.
The Trojans’ No. 4 doubles team, Owen Tromp and Kaleb Brege, defeated North Muskegon’s Hailey Green and Logan Eerbeek 6-3, 6-4.
“Across all flights, the team continues to improve as we picked up more games and two flights in our match on Tuesday,” said Fruitport Coach Brad Busscher. “Levi played a smart match, avenging a loss from the previous week. Our No. 4 doubles team outmaneuvered their opponents to gain a win.
“We are gaining experience together and improvement as we go on to the next match.”
