There’s no doubt that the Fruitport volleyball team has talent.

The only question was when the Trojans were going to start finding their game and winning more matches.

They took a nice step in that direction on Tuesday, winning a pair of matches over Reeths-Puffer and Ravenna at Reeths-Puffer High School.

The Trojans won both matches 2-0. They downed R-P 25-17, 25, 23 and Ravenna 25-17, 25-12.

Sadie Haase had a big night at the net, pounding 20 kills for the Trojans. Gracelynn Olson had 42 assists and Emma Fletcher served up four aces.

Defensively, Lauren Reidel had 27 digs and Haase contributed two blocks.

The Trojans improved to 4-5 on the season.

“To learn to be a great team you have to learn to win,” said Fruitport Coach Nicole Bayle. “You have to learn to push and push and keep pushing, and our kids did a good job of that! I was very proud of our sustained effort and our ability to finish a game.”
