The Fruitport volleyball team bounced back from a pair of opening losses on Friday and ended on a bright note with a victory over rival Spring Lake.
The Trojans started their day at Grand Haven’s “Battle on the Boardwalk” tournament with losses to Mona Shores (15-25, 16-25) and Grand Haven (14-25, 19-25).
They avoided a winless day, however, by hanging tough and downing Spring Lake 26-24, 25-22 in their final match of the day.
Sadie Haase and Emma Danicek each had 13 kills while Ashton Olson added 12. Gracelynn Olson had 36 assists.
Defensively, Lauren Reidel had 33 digs.
Fruitport is now 2-5 on the season.
