Trevor Rusnak pitched a three-hit shutout on Monday, leading the Fruitport baseball team to a 3-0 victory over Holland Christian in the second game of an O-K Blue conference doubleheader.
Rusnak pitched all seven innings, scattering four hits while striking out three batters.
Rusnak was also a hero at the plate, knocking in two runs with a double in the second inning. Christian Kennedy added two hits for Fruitport.
The Trojans lost the first game 8-3. Andrew Spyke hit a home run for Fruitport while Rusnak, Jax Flynn and Ryan Bosch each added one hit.
“We had better at-bats today,” said Fruitport Coach Nick Reed. “In game one we just couldn’t get the hits we needed, but in the second game we came back and played sound all around.”
Fruitport will complete its regular season with a pair of games at Montabella on Saturday and a home game against Sparta on Tuesday.
